Blood Savers Ltd is a service company specializing in providing Intraoperative Cell Salvage (ICS) and Postoperative Cell Salvage (PCS) to hospital operating theatres and recovery wards, thus reducing the requirement for donor (allogeneic) blood.
Blood Savers service now enables patients in smaller hospitals to receive the same standard of care in blood transfusion as those in larger hospitals, without the hospital having to make a capital outlay and commitment to training and maintaining operator competency - A cost-effective way of making the most of existing resources.

John W. Pooley - Cheltenham, Gloucestershire
William R. Amaden - Shaldon, Devon
The two founders of the company have almost 60 years in the surgical device market, including blood management, holding executive positions in both sales and marketing with large multi-national companies as well as start up ventures. John Pooley was until recently the Sales Director for Sorin Group, which incorporates the Dideco Blood Management Division. Bill Amaden has worked for 33 years for medical device companies in the fields of cardiovascular, urology and gynaecology, in both the United States and Europe.
Clare Wade - Woking, Surrey
Company Director and Director of Clinical Affairs
Clare. Wade has 27 years of experience in the medical profession. Her first ten years were spent nursing at Charing Cross, Hammersmith and Newcastle General Hospitals. This was followed by 10 years as Haemonetics UK Ltd’s Clinical Nurse Specialist. For the last four years prior to joining the Company, Clare Wade held the position of National Lead Nurse for Clinical Development with the National Blood Service.
Operators
All Blood Savers locum operators are experienced in ICS and operate the equipment on a regular basis, normally in NHS hospitals. They are all registered Healthcare Professionals.
We ensure that the locum has:
- A current registration, either HPC or NMC.
- CRB and Hep B checks (through their full-time employer)
- Completed the UK Cell Salvage e-learning package and has evidence of continued professional development. www.learnbloodtransfusion.org.uk
- Been assessed as competent by the machine manufacturer.
